The literature points to the positive impact of 'bottom-up job design' on employees' job motivation and well-being. Here, specific reference is made to 'jobcrafting'. Jobcrafting is the initiation of changes in the work by the employees themselves with the aim of making the job fit better with their own strengths, preferences, drives and passions.

Using a 'mixed method sequential design' composed of a quantitative and qualitative part, we investigate jobcrafting behaviour among actively employed people over 55. We also identify facilitating elements for jobcrafting behaviour at individual and organisational level.

The results and recommendations resulting from the research form the basis for the development of an intervention aimed at supporting jobcrafting among over-55s.
