Panda project: participation of children in youth assistance
Together with eight partner organisations from Belgium, Northern Ireland, Norway and Spain, we promote the participation of young children aged 12 and under in youth services. Through transnational learning and development, we strengthen social workers and related professionals through a review of tools and methods, the development of a framework for organisations and policies, and a toolkit for trainers.
Attention to participation children in youth aid remains necessary
Despite evolutions in regulation, policy and social work practice, the participation rights of children aged 12 and under in care are still in need of attention.
Across Europe, professionals experience shared difficulties and barriers in practice.
Promoting children's participation in youth aid
The overarching aim of this project is to promote young children's participation in decision-making. This is done in a transnational collaboration where professionals are strengthened in participatory work with young children in youth services.
The Universal Convention on the Rights of the Child and the UN Sustainable Development Goals guide the provision of assistance to young children.
The objectives of the project are:
- strengthen skills of professionals;
- support organisations and policy officers to implement participatory working;
- provide trainers and educators with tools and methods in lifelong learning.
Target audience
The project is aimed at social or care workers, managers of organisations, policy officers, academics and trainers.
