In short
SPEED-You-UP explores how you can motivate early school leavers and NEET young people (Not in Education, Employment or Training) through entrepreneurship.
In entrepreneur hubs, young people work in small groups on their own business idea. This idea can grow into a pop-up or a sustainable enterprise. Schools and local authorities set up the hubs. Teachers, entrepreneurs and professionals provide close coaching and guidance.
The project focuses on developing entrepreneurial competences based on the EntreComp framework (Entrepreneurship Competence Framework).
Need and relevance
Too many young people leave education early or struggle to access employment or training. This increases the risk of long-term unemployment and social exclusion.
This research examines how entrepreneurial learning:
- strengthens motivation
- builds self-confidence
- improves prospects for employment
Young people develop ideas that respond to needs in their own neighbourhood. In doing so, they learn new skills and contribute to the quality of life in their community.
From approach to impact
Thirteen partners from four countries jointly develop and test a practice-based model for entrepreneur hubs. You investigate which learning environments, coaching approaches and partnerships create the strongest impact on motivation and competence development.
The project results in:
- an evidence-informed methodology for entrepreneur hubs
- practical tools for schools and local authorities
- insights into how entrepreneurship fosters inclusion and employment
In this way, the project contributes to sustainable solutions for early school leaving and youth unemployment, with impact at local and European level.
Partners
13 project partners from four countries are working together on this project. Arteveldehogeschool coordinates the project. The project partners are: the city of Amiens, Centre Social Salengro (Armentières) and Association de Centres Sociaux de Wattrelos from France; Jong Ondernemen and Stichting PRO WORK from the Netherlands; education centre of the city of Ghent, Economic House of the city of Ostend and cluster welfare within city and OCMW Sint-Niklaas from Flanders; Bournemouth University, WSX Enteprirse, Digital Peninsula Network and Devon Mind from England.
