Between September 2017 and December 2018, the learning network examined the question of how STEM can be implemented in primary schools in a sustainable manner. This search was the result of previous editions of the learning network, which clearly showed that STEM can only be realized in classroom practice and this for all children, if it is a story of the entire school.

To find answers about the implementation of STEM at the school level, the learning network went through a process that started with school visits. During these visits, six primary schools were visited that are already taking far-reaching or starting steps to give STEM a full place at school. Each school visit was characterized by a school-specific story due to the specificity of the school team, the school context, the urgency, … At the same time, a number of commonalities were identified across the six stories, which were detected during a growth session of the learning network and recorded in 11 building blocks.
