Stronger Together in Play
The period between birth and primary school age is crucial for children's development. During that phase, children show both great resilience and vulnerability. Any developmental difficulties can be overcome or just become more pronounced. It is therefore more than desirable to create a stimulating environment that encourages development in a broad sense, and the play development of young, vulnerable children in particular, at preschool age. Pre-school childcare can make an important contribution to this.
During this research, we will engage with game experts, managers and child supervisors from pre-school childcare. On this basis, a number of practical tools and a guidance programme will be developed. In this way, child supervisors will be supported in noticing more accurately when a child is having difficulty playing or is stagnating in his/her play. In this way, they can create a challenging and stimulating learning environment for the child more quickly by using a sensitively responsive attitude to offer play materials that match the child's interests and abilities.
