Deregistering from a Bachelor, associate degree or advanced bachelor programme

If you deregister, there are some aspects you should take into account and administration that you must arrange. Follow these steps. We are also available to help you find a new option.

Step 1: Make an appointment for your 'exit interview'

If you want to deregister from your study programme, first make an appointment with the study track manager from your department. This is mandatory.

Together, you will go over your reasons to deregister, and – if you like – get help to make a new study choice and information on the consequences of your decision on tuition fee, learning account, etc.

Have you decided to change programmes within Artevelde UAS after this talk?

Contact the study track manager of your new study programme after your exit interview, to determine your study programme. Next, you fill out the module 'request to deregister from the current programme' (see step 2) The study track manager from your new study programme will then officially arrange your new study programme.

Step 2: Complete the module 'request to deregister from current study programme'

If, after your exit interview, you still want to deregister from your current study programme, then run through all steps of the module 'request to deregister from current study programme'  in the digital administration office on the student portal on My Dinar.

Important to know: the official date of your deregistration is the date on which you completed this module.

Step 3: The Office of Student Administration will process your deregistration

If you have completed the module 'request to deregister from current study programme', you will get an automatic confirmation. We will send your deregistration certificate to your private email address. You can still cancel your deregistration by sending an email to studentenadministratie@arteveldehs.be.

Important:

  • We can only arrange your deregistration once you have settled all outstanding invoices with Artevelde UAS.
  • If there is an outstanding amount, for instance because of a repayment of the number of credits taken? Then you will receive this amount a few days after your deregistration.
  • Your print balance remains valid until 20 December of the year in which you deregister.

Step 4: New enrolment in a different programme

If you change to a new study programme within Artevelde UAS of within the Association (Ghent University, HoGent, Howest), then you do not have to pay the fixed tuition fee again. You will need your deregistration certificate as proof. You can read more on how to change programmes here.

Consequences of changing your enrolment

If you want to quit your study programme, this can have consequences. For your learning account, but also for aspects such as child benefit or student grant. In the Guide to changing your study programme or unenrolling, you will find all details.

Deregister from a postgraduate programme

If you want to deregister, then please contact the programme manager of the postgraduate programme first. You can find the contact details of the programme manager on the postgraduate programme webpage. You should do this as soon as possible. This allows for people on the waiting list to join.

Then send an email to Student Administration– they will take care of all administration related to your deregistration.

Up to two weeks before the start of the postgraduate programme, you will get back your tuition fee. We will only charge € 250 administration expenses. After that moment, unfortunately, reimbursement is no longer possible. This applies to the entire programme, even when some courses only start in the second semester.
