The Administrative Body of Artevelde UAS has appointed Isabelle De Wulf as new President of Artevelde UAS. She will succeed Tomas Legrand on 10 February 2025. Tomas Legrand recently announced his intention to retire on 1 December 2025. In the next months, he will take on the position of policy advisor of the board.
Since her start at Artevelde UAS in August 2023, the focus of Isabelle as HR Director was on the development and implementation of a contemporary and future-proof HR policy to prepare the UAS and its staff for current and future challenges. The administrative body especially appreciates her effectivity and leadership, and her skills to develop and communicate a clear vision and ambition. Moreover, Isabelle realises this objective through efficient use of the right means and by coaching, guiding and challenging teams and staff members.
Isabelle obtained her Master in Clinical Psychology at Ghent University in 1996, followed by a Postgraduate Course in Multilingual Business Communication. After gaining experience as selection manager in a recruitment office in Brussels, Isabelle worked for more than 20 years at Belgacom/Proximus, and 5 years at Barco.
Progressive institution with a heart for students
The administrative body wishes to express its appreciation to Tomas Legrand for his realisations. Artevelde University of Applied Sciences is a leading UAS with a range of successful, relevant and futureproof study programmes.
With Tomas at the helm of Artevelde UAS, in 2019 the Plan for the Future, 'Creating Tomorrow's World', was launched and implemented. This strategic approach was not only noticed and appreciated by many network partners, but also by the Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organisation (NVAO) in their institutional review. They praised Artevelde UAS in June 2023 as a 'progressive institution with a warm heart for its students'.
Aiming high
Isabelle De Wulf is very enthusiastic about her appointment: 'I am looking forward to starting my new assignment as President of Artevelde University of Applied Sciences, and to shaping the strategic choices of the Future Plan together with the board, the Directors, and all staff members and partners. We are an ambitious UAS, we aim high what concerns high-quality and significant education, research and services. We do not only work for, but also together with the professional sector, students and our partners and educational institutions.'
'We collaborate closely with our alliance partner Odisee University of Applied Sciences, with whom we plan to integrate in the future. I am looking forward to taking the next step with them in this story, and, together with everyone realise impact as an innovative and ambitious integrated UAS.'
