The program interconnects social, psychological and pedagogical frameworks, interventions, methodologies and practices. Boost your professional impact by exploring the interdisciplinary perspective between Social Work, Social Education / Early Childhood Education and (Applied) Psychology. At the same time, deepen your own discipline-specific expertise.

Interdisciplinary Innovation Project
12 ECTS

In this course, you will collaborate with fellow students from diverse social disciplines to tackle a real-world challenge of a social service.

Over the span of 8 weeks, you will work intensively as a team, engage closely with the organization and apply Human-Centered Design Research to develop innovative solutions. In this course, you will train your skills in project management, research methodologies and teamwork.

Policy Influencing in Social Education
6 ECTS

You will explore one of the professional fields related to children, youth or families in Flanders, in your own country and in the rest of the world. Together with Flemish students, you will try to influence Flemish policy-makers to make a change!

This course includes several visits to Flemish services for children, youth and families and community service learning.

Digital Skills and Professional Development
6 ECTS

Blended approaches are the new normal. Social professionals in welfare, e-mental health and education etc. are challenged to be active online. In onlinechat services, in chatrooms, and on social media. Organizations are forced to explore new boundaries and develop strategies and methods to reach people online. The constant flood of digital and other technological tools adds a new set of skills, especially for social professionals. Besides that, you need more awareness of rapidly evolving ethical issues and challenges. You get an introduction into practical oriented frameworks and gain some hands-on experience in the methodology of using online tools.

Professional development is a process which involves the critical reviewing of practice to identify learning requirements. You will reflect actively on your own professional identity and on how to respond to the rising challenges for social professions in a globalised and ever-shifting world. You will learn to work with a professional identity model.

Mental Coaching: Positive and Performance Psychology
6 ECTS

This course blends sport and performance psychology with the science of well-being.

Through lectures and interactive workshops, students learn mental training techniques to enhance performance and explore strategies to promote well-being and a positive mindset, supporting individuals to thrive both personally and professionally.
