Developing and marketing

Research - Ecological and inclusive transition

To use our time and energy as effectively as possible during the development and marketing phases of sustainable and inclusive developments, it is important to involve future (vulnerable) users and the entire chain, among others, during the design and when selecting the most appropriate circular business model.

Financing of (circular) Product-as-a-Service (PaaS) models

Recommendations for financiers and companie

This report examines the challenges associated with financing (circular) Product-as-a-Service (PaaS) models, which often require more capital and shift risks toward the provider. Based on a literature review and interviews with different types of financiers, the study identifies key bottlenecks and proposes concrete solutions. The recommendations help both financiers and companies bridge the gap between the demand for and supply of financing, thereby supporting the transition to a circular economy.

Risk management in peer-to-peer online sharing models

Risico management bij peer-to-peer online deelmodellen

A practical framework to build trust in online sharing platforms

Online peer-to-peer sharing platforms can contribute to the transition to a circular economy by increasing the use of existing, often underutilized products. However, operational risks such as damage, defects, and uncertainty about product quality often represent barriers for users of these platforms.

This research examines the risks faced by platform users and proposes ways to avoid and mitigate them. Based on a combination of literature review and empirical data—including analyses of existing platforms, interviews with platform operators, and surveys of users and providers—the study translates scientific insights into practical guidelines for entrepreneurs.

By better identifying and managing risks, the framework strengthens trust and adoption of online sharing platforms and, more broadly, supports their continued growth within the circular economy.

About the domain of expertise Business and Management

The Business and Management domain of expertise supports employees, starters, and SMEs in their challenges towards a sustainable economic model. Together with partners we will search for insights and solutions in terms of tools, methods, or prototypes. This is done through market research and the human-centred design method.
