1-2-3-MOVE! Co-created actions for motor competence to kickstart developmental trajectories of 1 to 3-year-old Flemish toddlers
How can we support the motor competence and risk competence of toddlers? First, we map out their current development. Then, together with the field and policy, we co-create initiatives to support toddlers in childcare and at home.
The motor competence of Flemish toddlers (1-3 years old) appears to be declining. That's why we are mapping it together with Ghent University and the Free University of Brussels. We are also investigating potential influencing factors, such as other characteristics of these toddlers (e.g., their risk competence) and their families, the physical environment, and interactions between toddlers and their parents or caregivers.
We co-create initiatives with partners from the field and policy to provide rich movement and developmental opportunities for toddlers at home and in childcare. Curious? Contact ecoppens.coppens@ugent.be or helena.sienaert@ugent.be.
