Citizen collectives in welfare and care: the new cooperation models of the future
In recent years, we have seen in various countries how citizens in different domains (energy, care, nutrition,…) combine forces to get a better grip on a number of contemporary problems. The government is withdrawing from a number of domains and the private sector is only taking over some of its tasks or is increasing accessibility. Citizens are taking more and more responsibility in this regard. They themselves take the initiative for joint management in situations where the government or the market fails to do so.
In this project we zoom in on the sector of people with disabilities where there has been a serious growth of citizen collectives in recent years in the form of parent initiatives. Parents are responsible for a housing or daytime activities project for their child with a disability. In practice, it is experienced that the parents still experience many difficulties to realize all this. This project develops concrete tools for citizens to realize accessible, high-quality and sustainable citizen collectives.
