In short

PSY-AID is a TETRA research project that investigates how generative AI can contribute to accessible, understandable and human-centred psychoeducation in the fields of welfare and mental health care.

The project targets:

  • organisations and professionals in welfare and care

  • technology partners developing AI applications

Together, we explore how AI can be used in a supportive and responsible way, with ongoing attention to ethics, inclusion and quality.

Need and relevance

In welfare and mental health care, there is a growing need for clear, accessible and tailored information for clients, families and their wider context.

Today, organisations face several challenges:

  • existing psychoeducational materials are often too generic, too complex or insufficiently supported by visual elements

  • vulnerable groups disengage more easily

  • professionals have limited time to adapt materials to individual needs

  • digital applications offer opportunities, but also raise questions

PSY-AID examines how AI technologies can contribute to more accessible and inclusive care, without losing sight of the human relationship and professional responsibility.

From approach to impact

We are exploring how AI tools can lighten the workload and still meet the needs of, for example, children with attention deficit disorders, employees with autism, or people with limited digital skills. The focus is on creating and transforming accessible information and psychoeducation. We are working towards a more accessible and inclusive offering by providing personalized information and support to everyone, without significant additional resources or time investment.
In collaboration with healthcare and social welfare organizations, we are developing and testing five proof-of-concepts in practice, focusing on usability, effectiveness, ethics, and inclusion.

We are looking for additional companies to contribute ideas, test, and invest in the further development of this project.
