Sport PAkt!: a title with a double meaning. On the one hand, sport has the potential to interest, move, emotionalize or, in short, 'grab' a very wide and diverse audience. This makes it a powerful medium to reach people in a vulnerable socio-economic situation and to stimulate them mentally and physically.
On the other hand, sport can also lead to activation of these people. Various projects and studies show that the sports context can be a suitable environment to increase participation in social life. In short: sport can be a bridge to society, in which the participant takes an active role. Participation can be done through sports as such or through taking on responsibilities within various peripheral activities such as, for example, taking care of the catering, acting as material master, updating the Facebook page of the group, ... . Activation is therefore seen as developing and/or rediscovering the necessary (social) skills that are needed to participate in society and to develop oneself in relation to others. From there, these people can progress to voluntary work, club life, meaningful (free) time activities or even training or a job. Through sport, related support/care can be introduced that helps people to achieve their personal goals.
In order to realize this extra-sportive added value of sport, social-sporting practices are increasingly being looked at. These actors do indicate that they need a better framework and stronger professional profiles. Sports PACK! wants to map out these support needs and develop building blocks for a professionalization process (= to be interpreted broadly). It focuses on:
1) exchanging and disseminating good practices;
2) generating and collecting evidence based (EVB) information;
3) developing tools that can be used in various forms of professionalisation .
The expertise and network of the Social Work and Secondary Education (OSO) degree programs and the Physical Education and Movement Recreation (LO/BR) specializations are bundled in this Project-based Scientific Research (PWO). The emphasis is on co-creation with the sector, professionalization of the anchor figures and better coaching/guidance of the target group as a result of this. activation.
