An emerging trend is the increasingly loud call for a holistic approach by adding the musical domain of Arts (hence the acronym STEAM). The premise is that there are clear intersections between STEM education and arts education, but that these are grossly understudied in education. Both scientific and artistic processes start from an observation that raises questions, from a view of the world around the learner and try to formulate answers to those questions through research. Within that research process, STEM and A reinforce each other in generating 21st-century skills such as problem-solving and critical thinking.
Within this project, we are looking for a clearly defined vision for STEAM in Flanders. We make this concrete in a learning activity.
