TA²LK: tool for the automatic analysis of linguistic aspects in children

How can AI revolutionize the way we analyze child language? TA²LK is set to transform speech therapy. In short

TA²LK is developing a proof of concept (tPoC) for an AI tool that enables automatic and error-free transcription and analysis of conversations with children. This tool supports speech therapists in more efficient and cost-effective assessments of child language disorders and learning disabilities.

Need and relevance

Language disorders in children are often diagnosed too late or inefficiently, partly due to time-consuming analysis methods. TA²LK addresses the need for faster and more accurate transcription and language assessment methods. The tool also has broader international potential in sectors. It offers opportunities for businesses focused on educational and communicative software or Speech To Text (STT) applications in e-health.

From approach to impact

The hybrid AI tool combines expertise in child language development (Artevelde University of Applied Sciences) with advanced AI techniques (Ghent University). The tool will be iteratively evaluated and refined. The project also explores valorization opportunities, such as licensing and market applications, to make the tool widely applicable both in speech therapy and in commercial markets for STT and educational technology.
