Biography

After obtaining my master's degree in special education at the University of Ghent, I immediately started working in the educational field. The focus from the start was on helping to create inclusive learning environments. This focus is also important within the bachelor's degree after bachelor's degree in special education and care expansion and remedial learning, where I have been working since 2013, as a teacher and researcher. As a teacher we reach many schools and we can immediately see the effect of the content we provide during the lessons. Motivating students to translate theory into practice is central to our story of workplace learning. It is also in this domain that I take a very active role. Together with schools, we look at what is needed to achieve quality education and we focus on practical research. I teach the subject of practical research and I also work on it as a researcher. We have achieved innovation within various projects through practical research. The following themes were discussed here: UDL, multilingual education, support networks, dealing resiliently with challenging behavior, participatory research with students, interprofessional collaboration and I can list a few more themes.
