Development goals, assessment and language tasks for OKAN (Welcoming classes of foreign-speaking newcomers)
A PWO preliminary study revealed that OKAN secondary school teachers and schools were struggling with how best to evaluate. There was a need for information about and concrete examples of evaluation aligned with the new development goals for OKAN.
What & why?
In this project, we investigated how the new development goals for OKAN could be tested and the role of language tasks in this.
Results
Based on this project, an in-service training pathway for OKAN schools was developed with guidance from a (core) team at the school itself. The in-service training path comprises two parts:
- Methodologies to provide OKAN schools and teachers with an understanding of the new development goals, language tasks and a corresponding assessment;
- Examples of language tasks and evaluation as well as concrete advice that ensures that teacher teams can and
