In short
How can future teachers embrace digital technologies? The project "The Digital School" unites Flemish colleges to embed digital competencies into teacher training programs, guided by the DigCompEdu framework.
Need and relevance
Seventy percent of Flemish teachers feel unprepared to use digital tools. Education is key to bridging this gap, equipping both students and teachers with digital skills. The DigCompEdu framework serves as a roadmap for preparing educators to face digital challenges. By fostering collaboration among colleges, this project ensures that future teachers are well-prepared for a rapidly digitalizing world.
From approach to impact
Bringing together all Flemish colleges, this initiative focuses on early childhood, primary, and secondary education programs. Through structured steps, such as quick scans, toolkits, and action plans, the DigCompEdu framework will be integrated into curricula and professional training. The project aims for a lasting impact by embedding digital competencies in teacher education and bridging the gap between theory and practice, positioning Flanders as a leader in digital education.
