Green Guide App: find your way in sustainable Ghent
For many years, the Green Guide was a printed English-language city guide with sustainable information, exclusively for incoming international students at UGent and Artevelde University College. However, young adults prefer a free app. Because the information is also suitable for all students - 85% of Ghent students live outside Ghent and are still getting to know Ghent fully - all Ghent higher education institutions want to jointly launch a Green Guide app for all students. The City of Ghent Tourism Office also sees the added value of such a digital tool for tourists who would like to explore the Arteveldestad in a sustainable way.
All sustainable restaurants, clothing stores, transport, recycling tips, sports options, etc. are now bundled in one application so that users can easily find them. In this way we encourage students and tourists to discover a climate-friendly, plant-based, zero waste and circular Ghent.
The Green Guide App is a co-creative project: LUCA school of Arts drew up the plan using design thinking, the Business Management students of Artevelde University College and HoGent developed a business plan and explored possible revenue models, Ghent University deploys a Green Office student to develop the project content. to coordinate, the City of Ghent Tourism Office supplies content and provides an accompanying website page, HoGent draws up the creative marketing plan and takes care of the copywrite and the Graphic Digital Media students of Artevelde University College develop the actual app. We will launch the app in academic year 2023-2024!
