Open mind, critical thinking, good listening: philosophical questioning in secondary school
What & why?
The challenge for education in Flanders is the profound inequality in the school system. Teachers are confronted with class groups whose students differ greatly in their point of view on various themes. Unfortunately teachers do not always have appropriate ways to create space for dialogue between conflicting points of view and to develop listening, speaking and reasoning skills. This project investigated ways to philosophize with young people and - specifically - the CoPi method developed by Catherine McCall (Community of Philosophical Inquiry).
Result!
A review of professional literature on the conditions for philosophizing with young people and possible obstacles.
