Re-employment
At the end of January 2016, Flanders had 232,931 job seekers. Although this is overall a decrease compared to 2015, the decrease is not the same for all categories. The 'residual group' category increased by 15%. 'Reemployment in the regular circuit after incapacity for work' is part of this residual group. This population needs client-oriented, adapted guidance towards re-employment.
Various actions are taken within this guidance. Firstly, guiding and coaching the jobseeker is a crucial part. A coaching style that is different for each jobseeker and that can fluctuate over time is an essential part of success. Second, there is the assessment that is interpreted by the occupational therapist. Advice is formulated on the basis of this information about suitable job content and places of employment. An assessment must result in a profile that refers to either the regular or the alternative labor market. In addition, preventive advice is given.3
The care providers in practice expressed their need for concrete guidelines on the content and form of such guidance.
The overall objective of our research is to develop a guideline regarding a best practice re-employment process of a person with an occupational disability.
