Registering as a jobseeker
Once you have finished your studies, register immediately with VDAB (Flanders residence) or Actiris (Brussels residence) as a job seeker. As a school leaver, you must complete a 'vocational integration period' of 12 months and obtain two positive evaluations of the efforts made in your job search before applying for integration benefits. In addition, you must be available for the job market during your vocational integration time and thus effectively look for work.
Work permit
Be advised that foreign workers who wish to work in Belgium as employees (i.e. working under an employment contract) must hold a work permit.
