After all, Blikopener refers to the Flemish project of the same name, which profiles colleges as partners in innovation with innovation as the driver of our prosperity. This position fits perfectly with the college's conviction to facilitate knowledge sharing between all stakeholders in health and care.
"From the work field, I have been able to experience for myself that Arteveldehogeschool and its expertise networks have built up an extraordinary amount of know-how and expertise," Tomas continues. "This outreach to the field tailored to their needs and trends and developing solutions together is an incredible win for all partners contributing to health and care developments and growth. This conviction, embedded in Arteveldehogeschool's belief to train "makers of tomorrow", is very close to my personal motivation," Tomas said.
Tomas is a nurse by training and subsequently obtained a master's degree in medical-social sciences at UGent, followed by what Tomas himself calls Lifelong Learning. During his studies, he initially worked in the patient counselling and ombudsman service of a general hospital. Over the past 20 years, Tomas has mainly built up his expertise in a management position within elderly care.
"Teamwork is the driving force for Tomas in this position. As an eye opener, we bring together the expertise of our expertise network and the experiences of the work field in the interests of the growth and development of the broad health and care sector. We can only achieve this if the field, companies, content experts, teachers, etc. are brought together around specific themes. Initially, these themes will mainly be built around the research pillars of leadership, technology, active ageing and front line."
